Christmas Greenery

I love using fresh cedar garlands.
They drape so beautifully and their fragrance is divine.

I used them with a bit of burlap and twine,
along with a few ornaments, to decorate my chandelier.
I love how it hangs down above my dinner table,
adding just the right touch of festive cheer.

I covered each of my windows with them
and added mercury glass pine cones and glittered bells in the center.

Along with my cedar garlands,
I am enjoying this album http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxFZDNn2Hjs
I just adore the sights, sounds and smells of Christmas!

Paperwhites and Christmas Lists

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday, we sure enjoyed ours.
We wrapped up our weekend with a little un-decorating then re-decorating,
more light repair, and a bit of Christmas shopping.
I have finally come out of my food coma, and I'm ready to tackle the Christmas season.

The boys and I sat down Monday night and made our
'Must Do During December' Christmas lists.

 I planted my paperwhites.

The boys decorated the Memory Tree downstairs.

They took it very seriously!

Nut Cups

The boys were in charge of making the nut cups this year.
 They have been working hard.

They decided to draw turkeys and pilgrims.
I think they turned out pretty great!

Tree Trimmings

I am a pretty firm believer that Christmas shouldn't start until after Thanksgiving.
That said, as soon as Thanksgiving week arrives
it seems like time speeds up and calendar days start disappearing.
This year I decorated the salon first (before the day of Thanks) -
I figured that way I could utilize my free Saturday, knock out one room a little early,
and still keep the rest of the house Thanksgiving Day appropriate.

Love this Santa Key!

Dasher is quite the social butterfly,
I think he really enjoys hanging out in the salon and meeting all the fun ladies!

Love the look of glass glitter! Beautiful sparkle with just a touch of tarnish!

The salon all dressed up in Christmas Glow!

Calling in the Elves

I think the number one, top of the list, most dreaded Christmas chore, has hands down got to be...
Putting the lights on the tree.
I'm sure that is why the pre-lit Christmas tree was invented!
They are brilliant and beautiful -
That is until the lights don't work anymore and you have to restring them. Oh my, what a mess!
Throwing the whole tree, lights and all in the nearest dumpster never sounded better!
Instead, for the sake of the budget and the fact they don't make my beloved spiral tree anymore -
I called in the troops to help wrangle this job!

Some Live Action Shots

Taking the lights off  -
  Approximately 2 hours

Putting the light on -
Approximately 5 hours including a trip to the store after running out of lights

Wound care -
 Approximately 15 minutes

Finally,
 Decorating the Tree -
??? Sometime into the wee hours of the night

Gentri - Dinner pizza pickup
Kenisha - Midnight clean up
Bear and Kolby - Outside leaf duty

Pumpkin Stand

While treasure hunting at the DI a couple years ago, I came across this little gem.
What a find, $5 well spent!
It is quite worn and weathered, but I think it just adds to its character.
Someday I have plans to redo it, but for now I am enjoying its 'well loved' look.
 This stand is very versatile.
During the Summer it is a Lemonade Stand or Roadside Baked Goods Booth -
Spring brings Fresh Flower Vendors -
and during Fall, it doubles as a Carnival Ticket Window or Pumpkin Stand.
 Oh the possibilities are endless!
Right now it sits on my front porch alongside an old park bench filled with pumpkins and gourds.
My neighbor let me cut down some corn stalks from her garden, and the boys helped me tie them up to the porch pillars with some burlap ribbon.

Snow Day

Kolby couldn't wait to get out there and roll around in the snow.
He scrapped up every last bit he could find to make himself a teammate!
The mountains always look so beautiful covered in a blanket of white!

All this white stuff makes me want to start prepping for the Christmas Season.
Today I am dreaming of this simple yet beautiful front porch!

Turkey Season

We all know about my vintage book fetish.
I found this great picture while thumbing through one.
I think it makes a perfect Thanksgiving accent piece.
Some of my fall book collection.

I love using natural elements for decorating, especially during Fall.
Nuts, berries, acorns, twigs, leaves, pumpkins and gourds are some of my favorites.

I think Scentsy is really steppin' up their game this year.
I don't usually enjoy too many of their holiday warmers -
I think sometimes they are a little too cheesy for my taste.
But I am lovin' this Tom Turkey!

Fall Colors

I absolutely love the view out my front door during the autumn months.
There is just something stunning about a tree lined street littered with millions of fallen leaves.
Fall not only has beautiful colors but it has an intoxicating smell and a majestic sound.
